Mobile Marketing Campaigns

Reaching your customer with Internet technology has become much easier. However, today in 2012, business owners now have many options available with mobile media marketing.

A simple marketing process:
 1) find your targeted prospective market,
 2) tailor a message, designed just for them and then
 3) reach that target audience where they live, online.

When employed strategically, business owners can use this process
in  four major areas (Internet, media, newspapers and the yps – yellow pages) successfully without overspending.

Yet even though business owners do not have to spend an exorbitant amount of money, they can still be effective in reaeaching new and existing prospects and customers.

Mobile Access to the Internet has changed everything!

But even as businesses are getting better at reaching their demographic customers, these same customers are fast becoming a moving target when it comes to accessing the Internet. Buyers are no longer always seated behind a computer screen at work or home. They are increasingly accessing the Internet while on the go. You know, you see them ever where. According to ComScore, about 72.5 million people or about 1/4th of the entire US population owns a mobile device and that stastic was in 2009.

It is expected that as of the end of 2011, that half of all Americans will have  the use of a smartphone or mobile device. That is big and important news!

The kind of device they are using is really at issue. The most  popular smartphone in the United States and maybe even the world is the Apple Corporation’s iPhone. And if you were to consider their suite of similar Internet accessing products like he “iPad”, you might easily draw the conclusion that this company is singly responsible for the wave of people using their mobile devices to access the Internet.

But, there are other companies that make popular smartphones to meet the demand (half of all Americans by 2011). The company that manufactures the Blackberry, RIM, a Canadian company by the way, is a major player in the market as are those companies that use the Google Android system. But again, what these players are doing, does not have to be a concern of those looking to market their business effectively.  I personally have a Google Android by Samsung. A Galaxy S l l, which I love!

What  business owners should be concerned about is  how to reach
users who are not stationary behind a computer; and getting their point across to those who are staring at their mobile phones and could be physically located half way around the world. It’s a global market now.

Reaching Your Target
Getting the point across could take a number of different forms, now that people are using smartphones in larger and growing numbers. The device itself, regardless of what kind of device it is (smartphone, iPad, tablet), is more them than just a traveling computer or even a telephone. The Internet analysis company Hubspot.com recently featured a survey completed by the company Prosper Mobile Insights. That survey brings to light some important general rules when looking at how to reach those 72.5 to 150 million smartphone users.

When asked what smartphone feature was the most essential to them, most did NOT say the Internet or telephone use. The function most essential to the everyday user is texting or SMS. This has a huge implication for your business in terms of determining the right strategy.

In fact, the top ten round out in this order:

 Activity
Percentage of People Who Took the Survey
Texting 21.6%
Internet 16.7%
Email 15.7%
Calling on the phone 7.8%

If you are not mobile friendly then you are missing out as pointed  out above. Mobile friendly is a term denoting a different type of site than the regular website or blog on line viewed at home on your computer.

Check out your site on this simulator to see how it looks.
Can you quickly locate your phone number or address? If  it takes time to maneuver around to find it, then it’s not mobile friendly and that potential customer just left your site in frustration. Never to return!

Local Business Marketing Online

Are you a local business owner?
Most small business owners feel that the internet would
not be  of any help to them, because  they think that
marketing business online with Google or other search
engines are meant for worldwide searches and they only
have local customers.

Today that is just not the case.
The internet can be enormously beneficial to even the
smallest local business. Read more to find out  more info…

Like to have Your Google Places claimed?

With the  huge growth of people now with internet access, many of those people are using the internet to research  for companies or businesses in their local area. If you don’t have an internet presence, your competitors do, you will be losing a lot of business!

So how do you go about getting that internet presence?

A good way is to claim your Google Places placement. It is a free
service that allows people to read, post and share reviews all about
local business, thier products and their services.

Google Places is the new name for their Business Center. Using this
service, you can “claim” your business in Google and customize your
listing on Google Maps and other important services.

If you create a website for your company and using search engine
optimization techniques, it could take several weeks or even months
before your site ranks well and starts to see significant amounts
of traffic. But there is a much faster way to get new clients.

The Power Of Online Reviews
Online reviews are a very powerful tool in gaining website authority.
Quality reviews from unique IP’s play a huge role in where a
website is placed on Google’s page one in organic searches.

These online business reviews are a powerful search engine
marketing tool and have been used successfully to increase a
websites organic search placement, as well as online map
positions within Google Places. As a website receives more
reviews it gains popularity which helps in search engines
indexing.

The best way to make sure your company has a strong presence
is through the use of Google Places. If you have ever done a search
for a local business on Google,  you have probably noticed the Google
Places listings at the top of the search results. They appear before
the standard results, making them especially lucrative. It is very
important to make sure your business has a presence here!

Currently, a business can claim their free Google Places profile
where consumers can write online reviews. Google Places profiles
show up on organic search results and usually occupy the first five
or so positions that you see on the page. Customers get to see
where your business is located,  and what current customers of
yours are saying about your business, and their is access to your contact information.

Why You Should Use Local Search
All of the major search engines are now using some sort of
local search technology to display information about companies
that are based in one specific geographic location.

Google can identify your location based on your computer’s
location based upon your computer’s internet connection
(IP address)

Fortunately, local search makes it easy to grab a top ranking in
Google very quickly. Local search results appear at the top of the
results, before the standard results are shown.

This means that they get a lot of attention, often more so than the
actual search results. If your business is not listed here, but your
competitor is, you will be losing a lot of business. In some areas,
thousands of people use Google and other search engines to find
local businesses just like yours every single day!

It just makes sense to make use of this technology. It’s free to
submit your business, and it can make a big difference to your
bottom line.

If you are not taking advantage of Google Places for your business
you’re missing out on a lot of  local business. In some cases, a listing
in Google Places could just about double your business!

Local Listings

Are you Traditional or Contempory Business Owner?

There are two ways you can go here:
the traditional way
the contemporary way
The traditional way is offline marketing using  methods and
tools such as print, television, radio, seminar, and others.
However the contemporary way is online marketing, using
the internet and social media to get new customers.
If you are not listed in the top local search directories, you are not connecting with customers who are ready to buy in your immediate area!

What is a Local Listing?

A local listing is a search result found in one of the top 20 search engines and directories on the Internet. A perfect example is Google Map results which are displayed at the top of Google’s  regular searches that helps pinpoint businesses in your area.

These results may be illustrated through a map or identified with a familiar address or phone number. Considering that most people now use the Internet to find local service providers, it is more important than ever to make sure your business is displayed here. Google does it for free.

With Facebook, you can tag someone in an update. Since FB has a broader audience base, it’s probable that your update will be seen by more people (friends), especially if the person feels compelled to thank you in a comment to your initial post. See my facebook business page. >

Twitter is a people place, however it is also a place to do business. I have 4 Twitter acounts.
Facebook involves setting up a business page. You should also
have a Facebook profile that is linked to your  business page(s).

Now to find your audience ( potential customers ) on the net.
Finding local people is an essential first step.

With Twitter you can  use the search feature, you can limit your
search to tweets within a geographic area while searching for
specific terms such as florist might search for “anniversary” within 5 miles  of Scarborough. A restaurant might search for anyone within 10 miles of Ottawa, ON,  everyone  needs to eat.
