Mobile Marketing Campaigns
Reaching your customer with Internet technology has become much easier. However, today in 2012, business owners now have many options available with mobile media marketing.
A simple marketing process:
1) find your targeted prospective market,
2) tailor a message, designed just for them and then
3) reach that target audience where they live, online.
When employed strategically, business owners can use this process
in four major areas (Internet, media, newspapers and the yps – yellow pages) successfully without overspending.
Yet even though business owners do not have to spend an exorbitant amount of money, they can still be effective in reaeaching new and existing prospects and customers.
Mobile Access to the Internet has changed everything!
But even as businesses are getting better at reaching their demographic customers, these same customers are fast becoming a moving target when it comes to accessing the Internet. Buyers are no longer always seated behind a computer screen at work or home. They are increasingly accessing the Internet while on the go. You know, you see them ever where. According to ComScore, about 72.5 million people or about 1/4th of the entire US population owns a mobile device and that stastic was in 2009.
It is expected that as of the end of 2011, that half of all Americans will have the use of a smartphone or mobile device. That is big and important news!
The kind of device they are using is really at issue. The most popular smartphone in the United States and maybe even the world is the Apple Corporation’s iPhone. And if you were to consider their suite of similar Internet accessing products like he “iPad”, you might easily draw the conclusion that this company is singly responsible for the wave of people using their mobile devices to access the Internet.
But, there are other companies that make popular smartphones to meet the demand (half of all Americans by 2011). The company that manufactures the Blackberry, RIM, a Canadian company by the way, is a major player in the market as are those companies that use the Google Android system. But again, what these players are doing, does not have to be a concern of those looking to market their business effectively. I personally have a Google Android by Samsung. A Galaxy S l l, which I love!
What business owners should be concerned about is how to reach
users who are not stationary behind a computer; and getting their point across to those who are staring at their mobile phones and could be physically located half way around the world. It’s a global market now.
Reaching Your Target
Getting the point across could take a number of different forms, now that people are using smartphones in larger and growing numbers. The device itself, regardless of what kind of device it is (smartphone, iPad, tablet), is more them than just a traveling computer or even a telephone. The Internet analysis company Hubspot.com recently featured a survey completed by the company Prosper Mobile Insights. That survey brings to light some important general rules when looking at how to reach those 72.5 to 150 million smartphone users.
When asked what smartphone feature was the most essential to them, most did NOT say the Internet or telephone use. The function most essential to the everyday user is texting or SMS. This has a huge implication for your business in terms of determining the right strategy.
In fact, the top ten round out in this order:
Activity
Percentage of People Who Took the Survey
Texting 21.6%
Internet 16.7%
Email 15.7%
Calling on the phone 7.8%

Can you quickly locate your phone number or address? If it takes time to maneuver around to find it, then it’s not mobile friendly and that potential customer just left your site in frustration. Never to return!
